Headed by lyricist The Poet, Havi and producer Spekulate the Philosopher, Studio 88 is multi-headed hydra. Together the duo crafts a gripping, black and white video for “Shea Butter Baby”. Directed by Josh Cannon and Nate Packard and produced by StudioOneFourThree, the visual is a full on motion picture. Inspired by the Robert De Niro classic film ‘Raging Bull’ the video shows emcee The Poet, Havi locked in the boxing ring combating a towering opponent. 

The song in itself, is a rousing celebration of black women and black love. Havi floats over the tribal drums with a brash, yet malleable flow that warps with every verse. Spekulate deftly blends the sound of the congo with hard-hitting drums to make a truly electric track. ‘Shea Butter Baby’ is the jam for the boo and the perfect end to the summer as we approach cuffing season.
