Coop Hits Home with “Runaway” | #Music

Coop‘s personal journey has not been an easy one, both from splitting time between his two parent’s house as well as his own bouts with depression. Coop, f.k.a lil cxxp, finds an outlet in his music to pour out his darker thoughts, to speak his own confidence into existence, and to branch out to those who might fight through the same hardships.

On his latest project, Runaway, Coop finds the balance of emotive inner-looking tracks and rock-infused songs to bump at your next party. Coop’s project reminds me of Warped Tour pits where you might get punched in the mouth or you might sing a personally touching set of lyrics hugging it out with a stranger. Songs like “Want To,” and “Rockstar,” are ready for sweaty mosh pit settings, and his more touching choruses found on songs like “Lovestruck” are fit to be sung in unison. Coop leaves his best piece for the last with the highly emotive “No Purpose,” which gives plenty of rawness and vulnerability to those who made it through the 8-track project. Coop’s rock influences bounce around throughout the project and bring them together in a refined way, which certainly helps this project stand out from the less refined noise similarly found online.
