Matt Citron already has one album under Sony Music Entertainment, “Final Moments Of Forever”, boasting the hit song “404,” featuring Cyhi Da Prynce and Money Makin’ Nique. Now, he is newly independent for the 1st time in 4 years.

Bolstered by his OG Greg Street, the Atlanta born and raised musician is about impact. Lately, he has been on a tear over the past week or so, flooding his Instagram stories with calls to action. He has promoted social justice, called for artists in Atlanta to unite, resisted against Nazi beliefs, accused a major Atlanta modeling agency on their lack of professionalism, and announced his new distribution deal. He has also spoken on securing new management with a track record.

I feel confident in saying the unreleased music I have heard from Matt Citron bridges sonics in a way I have rarely, if ever, heard. There is New York City-inspired, jazzy hip-hop complete with booming choruses. There is beautifully raw minimalistic sound. There is radio-ready commercial music. There is tremendously southern music. There is beachy, blue-eyed California soul. There is moshpit-worthy trap. The glue that makes the music stick is Citron’s vocals, which have evolved to affect the music as an instrument.

This is a notice to the music industry. Matt Citron is here to stay, and the anticipation for new music from the ATLien should be at an all-time high.
